Beverages responsible for higher obesity rate in the U.S.

Research suggests that Americans drink too many calories and it has been observed that
U.S. adults consume more than 20 percent of their daily calories through beverages which is twice the recommended caloric intake. Many people either forget or don't realize how many extra calories they consume in what they drink.

The Healthy Beverage Guidelines recommends more water and less soda pop and other caloric but nutritionally bankrupt beverages. It also suggests holding back on fruit juice, not more than eight ounces. Excess consumption of beverage will definitely lead to obesity so it’s very important to limit its intake.

Obesity is a big threat to our health and well-being but it can be controlled upto a certain extent by usage of diet pills such as phentermine, Adipex and Xenical.

Medicare likely to pay for some weight loss surgeries

Under the U.S. Medicare health insurance plan the elderly obese or disabled obese patients will be eligible for a variety of surgical weight-loss procedures. The plan will cover those patients who must have tried and failed other weight loss options and have at least one weight-related medical problem and have a high body mass index.

Previously, Medicare patients could only receive gastric bypass surgery in which the lower part of the stomach is either closed off or removed and its contents detoured around the large intestine directly to the small intestine. But the final ruling opens the door to laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding that squeezes the stomach smaller with a small band.

Apart from obesity surgeries, weight loss can be attained with the help of diet pills. Phentermine and other diet pills have made weight loss a reality for millions of its users.
